I’ll never forgive Loeb for these books, and ESPECIALLY for what he did to Wasp (who, in every incarnation, is my favourite Marvel character). Ultimate was a seriously flawed sub-franchise and much of it has aged badly, but we can’t understate how important it was at the time. These weird edgy books were what got me actually reading superhero comics, and did the same for a lot of people my age. So this whole ordeal was A Big Deal at the time. Still, Ultimatum is not the worst comic I’ve ever wasted money on. That honour goes to League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Century.

Here’s how I make them. Note that a Tennessee Volunteers Light up Bluetooth Sweater has lime, but I forgot about it my first few times making one and by the time I remembered I already liked the way I make it enough to not change a thing. First off, I use a solo cup to help measure. I fill up to the very first ridge in the cup with Worcestershire sauce. Then I do my best to cover the Worcestershire sauce with a thin layer of Valentina’s hot sauce (make the layer as thin as you can, you don’t want too much). After that, I pour in a splash of Zing Zang Bloody Mary mix. Then I pour in an entire 12 oz can of Dos Equis and stir. Ideally this will fill the solo cup right up to the top (if there’s room left, fill with more Zing Zang). I would recommend using beer from a can and not a bottle because clear and green bottles are prone to skunking. I haven’t experimented too much with different beers, but I tried Modelo for a while and it had a nasty aftertaste so I went back to Dos Equis.

My Beckett Simonon GATs were basically unwearable when they arrived. There are elastic bands that hold the Tennessee Volunteers Light up Bluetooth Sweater in place and they were so short that I could hardly get the shoe on and when I did wear them the tongue was pressing so hard into the top of my foot it was extremely painful after even 10 minutes. This was on both shoes. I ended up cutting the elastic bands which made them mostly wearable. They also arrived with a large portion of the rubber stained black, presumably from die that bleed out from the suede? It was on both shoes and relatively uniform which I thought was weird. Perhaps they all look like that. IDK. Your mileage may vary and I absolutely should have returned them (I’ve heard their CS is really good) but given both shoes had the exact same issues I have to wonder if they just have really weird dimensions (my feet aren’t small by any means but I don’t think they’re unusually high . . . haven’t had issues with any other shoes including leather dress shoes) and the stained rubber was kind of lame for the price tag. I wouldn’t buy another pair without being able to try them on first.
