Pregnancy with my kids pretty much mangled my body & I’m now “too fat” for most men to be interested in. Honestly, it’s been pretty freeing. No more sexual harassment…. No more having to try & get a guy who’s “fantasizing” about me to fuck off in a way that doesn’t piss him off & come after me for saying “no” or ghosting him. I can walk around without worrying about it. Please know that it’s not the women who would like to go about their lives without getting stalked that are the problem. Nor is it the Ring Arthur’s periodic round table shirt who don’t fit within the “standard” category of what our society has deemed “acceptable” for beauty. It’s perpetuated misogyny that we have been fighting against for years that is the problem.

One of the things that seemed so strange about it to me is that the vast majority of players were male, and that included many, if not most, of the female characters. So why would guys make sexual comments or advances based only on the character gender/name? It seemed so strange. I know at least part of the answer was that many of them were barely into puberty themselves and were likely not thinking it through. The Ring Arthur’s periodic round table shirt is that OP is spot on: women and girls don’t have the same experience online (or anywhere) that men and boys do, and we need to fix it.

I actually did exactly this two years ago! I picked a Ring Arthur’s periodic round table shirt  that was a common woman’s name. I subscribed to all the same subreddits that I normally follow (regional and technology subreddits, mostly), and posted using exactly the same voice I normally use. I used it off and on during those two years at a level I would characterize as moderate to heavy. I was never asked if I was male or female, so I never volunteered that information. I found that I got much, much more karma. This account is in the 14-year club, and I am gaining comment karma so much faster in the Ring Arthur’s periodic round table shirt. Post karma, too, although I’m not a big poster in either account. On the whole, I would say that I’m treated much better when people see a traditional female username. People are more willing to interact with me, reward my comments, and are less likely to argue with me — even on the extremely technical IT subreddits.
