The Kelly and Seidenberg trades were truly great. He also traded Chris Versteeg, Ricard Rackell, (both for literal peanuts, both became NHL contributors for several years) and dumped Boychuck because of his poor salary cap management. He also dumped Brad Boyes for a seive In Dennis Wideman who didn’t last in Boston. Trading Blake Wheeler (who is currently enjoying a 15-year career and counting, and was on the same timeline as Marchand and Bergeron, Kreicji ect. The trade involving Wheeler for Rich Peverly was also objectively bad, he could have gotten Rich Peverly for much less and not lost Wheeler. All of this also indicates that he was objectively awful at evaluating young talent. From then on, his moves either handicapped the team financially or he did not get nearly enough assets that he should have in trades. The reality is he had a few good moves that won Boston a cup, and his name will always be on the cup, but we’re evaluating the full picture here not ignoring the majority of it because he’s got his name on Lord Stanley. Yes you do have to evaluate these things from hindsight, however a good manager or general manager in this case with the help of his team has the talent and ability to project the likely growth for a player. All of these young players could have been adequately projected to be good long term, and all of them were already successful in the minors

They’ve took down multiple posts of mine for stupid reasons though in the past, they pick and choose what posts are allowed, what’s allowed for one is not allowed for another. And removing posts that are original that have very valid reference to the UK (such as a UK bloke weirdly celebrating Independence Day. Nobody else does that so it’s original, and the dude is English) claiming it’s an overdone topic lol. It’s ridiculous. Yet in that same rule number 7, it states that things such as tea or English breakfasts are an overdone topic and against that rule, yet when you use the search bar there’s an abundance of such posts that are up and have stayed live.
