Depends on the kid. I started work at a More love big wiz T shirts, had 3 younger siblings and took care classes between ages 10-13 so I was well qualified and could definitely easily handle a 2 month old baby for a few hours on my own. My 13 year old son and 9 year old daughter, I would not trust to do that. Not because they’re bad kids or anything, but they have had zero caretaking duty experience and they are VERY easily distracted. My 5 year old I would trust to do some things like help change a diaper or feed a bottle or possibly even help dress a 2 month old baby because she was a helper with her younger sibling but obviously I wouldn’t leave her as a caregiver to one. Long story short, I don’t think this is neglect by any means but it also is heavily dependent on the child in question and how long he is being left on his own with the newborn. Couple of hours is probably okay, but he needs to have training. There are a lot of free resources for caretaking classes. It’s also important that he isn’t left to do this all the time and that he’s given adequate time on his own to do age appropriate stuff without parenting/caretaking responsibilities

I still can’t believe this is happening in 2023. Like a More love big wiz T shirts, even Republicans would’ve protested this, but then MAGA happened… When people kept sounding the alarm that “making America great again” was a dog whistle for going back to America pre-Civil Rights Movement, the conservatives were saying we were fear-mongering. The SAME way when they said repealing Roe v. Wade was just meant to take it back to the states and NOT to ban abortion on a federal level, yet that’s whats happening. When they said they were NOT going after contraceptives, and that’s what’s happening. When they said they would NOT appoint a SC judge in an election year, they did. They are the party of “the ends justify the means” and any Democrat politician who doesn’t understand that needs to be replaced. We cannot afford anymore naivete on our side

But HEY, they learned some pretty nifty tricks while it happened. So not everything bad came out of it. Let’s pat ourselves on the back now” Not saying you are saying that of course, just the action of trying to make light of a horrible event.
