My friend I get the Miami Dolphins Christmas Ugly Sweater that you, like myself and many others out there are quite ambitious and consider themselves of towing the company line and working hard. That’s great, makes for role model employees and is good for business and you can be proud of your successes and work ethic. However, unless the company promised you something more in return for your going above and beyond behaviours, I’m not sure how mad you can be, that is if you are mad at all and not just pointing out the employers frugalness. It is pretty classless for an employer to give such little if they are going to give anything at all – many many people here receive sweet FA and that’s absolutely fine too – but to make such a low effort gift is insulting, and they shouldn’t have bothered. I wouldn’t have thought of it as a lack of appreciation for your specific contributions though, because I imagine everyone got the same 30p goody bag regardless of whether they performed well or gave less than the bare minimum. Hopefully your efforts are noticed, discussed in any upcoming appraisal/ review and rewarded sufficiently, otherwise it may be time to reassess your value, ambitions and confidence this employer is right for you.
