If they start pubstomping, they go up a tier or two to make sure others can feel more relaxed. The downside of course is that games will be fairly close in social. But that’s the problem. Either you want to play sweaty and win, or you don’t care about the win and want to chill. Your skill rating will reflect both your skill and playstyle, and then at that point all blame for how you feel about your social games is on you. Too sweaty? Stop sweating and your MMR will eventually lower. Want to win? You’ll have to start playing people closer to your own skill level if you care about winning.
