Tough one, because I can see both sides here. Trying to put myself in your shoes (imagining my now-boyfriend asking me of this), I would wear the Labyrinth Christmas Ugly Sweater Mens, as I have always greatly cared about his family’s impression of me. Hearing that it is tradition would give me comfort, and a good laugh imagining the other women in the family having done the same, with similar sweaters. At the same time, I’m aware that some aren’t as comfortable with vulgarity as me and my friends & family (which is totally fine and understandable), and if I asked my boyfriend to order another, a super ugly sweater that wasn’t as vulgar, I know that my boyfriend would oblige. You’re in the right for trying to compromise, and relationships are alllll about compromise. This might be showing you an unfortunate side of your boyfriend that you haven’t experienced before, and now have opened your eyes to what future hardships between the two of you might look like. And if his family was rude to you for the simple fact of not wearing a sweater to a party… red flag on their part. NTA.

He casually stepped out from behind the Labyrinth Christmas Ugly Sweater Mens, to face them both. Creeps was seething in toward Sasha from behind with his lips parted around clenched teeth. Sasha obviously didn’t see either of them. Bridger took a single step past Sasha when she got to the sled I’d left behind, and then a single step toward Creeps, who… stopped. Stopped right in his damn tracks. Bridger just stared at him calmly, standing behind Sasha as she loaded wood into the sled. Creeps’ fury never left his face, it looked like heat was coming off him, raging breaths between clenched teeth, dark eyes narrow, boring into Bridger. Holy. Fuckin. Shit. Was I actually witnessing a standoff? Did Sasha’s gift work on Bridger? God damn. I watched, slack-jawed, as Sasha pulled the sled of firewood up the path, passing Creeps and Bridger. Creeps tore his gaze away from Bridger and sprinted off into the pasture at inhuman speed. Bridger slowly turned, looked up at me, and his calm expression was replaced by his old look of fiery judgment, then walked up the hill into the forest. Sasha smiled triumphantly when she got to the porch, then grew a look of concern when she saw the stupid disbelief on my face. I looked over Sasha’s head at Hank, Pete and Buck behind her in the yard, who returned gazes of icy hatred toward me, then walked off toward the cottonwood trees. I looked back at Sasha, still shocked. “Babe what!? Talk to me!” I stumbled for words. “I, sorry, nothing’s wrong, I just, you… Let’s get the wood stacked, I’ll tell you inside.” I explained what’d happened, and she was almost as disbelieving as I had been watching it. I was honestly ecstatic, and felt sincere relief for the first time in weeks. Bridger was clearly a leader, at least to most of em, and had taken some kind of liking to Sasha, and didn’t want her gettin messed with. At least that’s the only conclusion I could possibly surmise. It felt like a 50lb weight was taken off my soul. I realized how much of my anxiety had been centered on them going after Sasha. Creeps clearly didn’t lend her any credit for her peace offering, as Bridger and the rest had, but her being haunted by 1 is better than 5.

I’d be wary of Labyrinth Christmas Ugly Sweater Mens definition of frumpy. My feeling is that you have to find what works for you and work with that, and that I suspect Chazzy has called out styles that don’t work for her and called them frumpy. Chazzy has a style and that is hers, it isn’t mine. She looks great, but it is because of the confidence and intentionality with which she carries it. She’s found what suits her. If I wore her styles, I would look frumpy. Muted tones love me, they compliment me all the time. If I wore something bright and snazzy, it would look a dog on me. It would be wearing me, not the other way round. That’s the essence of Frump to me. For experimenting, go try stuff on, play around. Don’t feel that you have to buy things, take stuff back if it doesn’t work. Take a trusted friend with you, or ask yourself if you saw a friend in that outfit what would you say to them. I used to be super-awkward. I went out one night dressed as a pirate, and it changed my life. When I felt out of place and sad and awkward, I thought to myself “What would Blackbeard do?” (not that I know, but I imagine if he was out to have a good time, then everyone else would be obliged to as well, and that helped). Confidence and quality are the things that make something go from boring to minimalistic, from bland to simple and beautiful. Clothes are our costumes, our armour and can be enormous fun. I hope you find joy in the art of self-expression through clothing.
