Husband has been working from home and trying to figure out alternative ways out of his building. He called some other cousins, aunts and uncles and told them what was going on. They are apparently not shocked. She had been planning this sudden move for YEARS. Spoke non-stop about her son and ME but never mentioned friend beyond making a face at her name. They never thought she would go through with it, and said she disappeared a week before Easter/never showed up to the family dinner. Bitch MIL is stalking me. Awesome. I expect two homeland security guys at my door soon enough. Sigh Friend and Husband are coming over tomorrow to stay for who knows how long. They alerted their landlord who is at least taking the matter seriously and passed out fliers to the other tenants with her name and photo saying she was banned from the building. He is also going to keep an eye on the camera footage by the main door to make sure she doesn’t slip in with deliveries. He’s a great guy, I’m going to send him some cookies.

The other three were obscured in the dark snow-blanketed yard. I threw the door open, and made a grand, ridiculous gesture with my arm, waving it across the porch as I let Dash tear outside, raging into the night, “the dickheads want to play, Dash!” Both ghosts took a quick step back. Pete looked down in angry frustration at Dash’s target-less storm of snapping teeth and snarls, backing up to the porch railing as Dash got closer to him. He looked at me with an icy hatred, then jumped over the railing down into the dark yard. Creeps held his ground. I gestured at Dash as I took a step toward him and raised my eyebrows. He looked down at the dog with disgust and fury, but you could see fear start a melee with the malice on Creeps’ face. Dash sensed Creeps then. He got quiet, pulled his lips back, barring his teeth as he slowly shifted his weight to his back legs, betraying an intent to strike. Creeps leaned down toward Dash and screamed at the dog, face shaking, booming out an ear-splitting exultation of half rage half terror. Dash exploded toward the screaming ghost in a leash-snapping burst, letting out a deep, bearish growl of his own. Creeps launched off the porch and Dash went screaming after him into the yard as all the ghosts scattered. We got Dash back inside and calmed him down, and hoped that’d keep em at bay for the night.

I wore my Levi’s ribcage jeans with a unisex Uniqlo U crewneck white T-shirt, a cute pair of chunky sneakers, simple jewelry and a dainty non descript cross shoulder bags. It was early summer that day, and I was loving the simplicity of my Practical errand outfits. I wear my lovely fragrance Timbuktu and no make-up. As I was browsing, an incredibly well-styled and lavishly looking (Indian) lady approached me and asked if I could help show her some items. She thought I was a staff I always thought about it, as it was not an isolated occasion. It could be a cultural thing: I was underdressed for the mall, and outside of my stereotypes (late 30s South East Asian lady, single, no escort). But I don’t find the experience offensive. Would I change the outfit: white tee and blue jeans for a more stylish choice? No, the point is being Practical. It was a long, tiring day of walking, gawking, trying on, and hauling at one of the biggest malls-slash-themeparks in the West Coast. I looked the same exiting the mall as I had entered there. About “Dated” pieces, I have no comments. I have lots of dresses and blazers from the 70s and 80s Era with shoulder pads. You know, those items that bring divided attentions and criticisms.  But they are my Aspirational pieces. When I wear them, I feel like I adopt a different persona: emboldened in my actions and choices as my outfit commands attention. If I’m not comfortable styling them, then I shouldn’t have bought them in the first place.
