He couldn’t manipulate her, which humiliated him in front of his brothers, she turned it back on him, he clearly wasn’t ready for her to do that he got even more embarrassed that he couldn’t do what they were all pressuring and gaslighting her into doing against her principles and probably was angry af cause he knew he had fucked around got caught but didn’t have the balls to go through with it, he clearly didn’t want to find out. That’s why he couldn’t even find excuses and stayed silent. Good riddance, OOP saw not only red flags but red stadium banners and stood up for herself, I hope she’s proud of herself . She’s a better person than me, I’d have blurred just enough the offensive part of the sweater put it on social media tagged everyone and their mother, exposing him and his brothers to friends, family and even his colleagues since he doesn’t care about her job. Then I’d watched them get cooked while eating chocolate and cackling like a witch, love or no love left. Always mirror the energy people give you: in this case they wanted to humiliate her? Let’s see how you and your brothers deal and cope with this travestie you guys called a nice family tradition and the consequences.

She pulled out a serving dish from the I Know Him Ugly Christmas Sweater which she’d neatly arranged a small lamb kebab, some naan, 5 of her grandma’s fancy little ramekins filled with palaw, a rice dish I recognized immediately, and some dates. I looked at her stunned. “Sash, when… how did-“ she cut me off. “I thought you might shut the idea down, so I looked up some Afghan food, and… made some.” She shrugged at me with a challenging smirk. “Tell me where they are, and I’ll set it down in front of them. Maybe it’ll remind them of home…” We put on some coats and were going outside, when Sash said “oh wait” and turned back, bringing Dash back inside and talking to him “sorry buddy boy, they don’t think you’re as handsome as everyone else does.” I waited on the porch for her, and she walked out with one of her big scarves, which she put over the top of her head, then threw one of the ends over her shoulder in an almost practiced motion. A headscarf… “Sash did you practice putting on a hijab for this little Christmas gesture!?” She gave me a condescending smile and retorted “It’s not a hijab, it’s more like a Shayla, a headscarf.” I chuckled, I was impressed, but it also made me nervous. “Sash could this offend them, piss em off?” She shrugged. “I don’t think so. If I was in their home it would be courteous to wear one, and impolite not to, don’t know why they’d be pissed about it, I thought it would show respect.” I shrugged. “I guess it can’t make things worse…” We walked toward the back gate and I slowed my pace when I saw Hank, Pete, Creeps and Buck over near the two big cottonwood trees that shaded our entire yard, which prompted Sasha: “are they close, where are they?” – I pointed toward the gnarled trunks of the cottonwoods “four of em,” who, as expected, looked furious to see me. “Where’s the fifth?” Sasha asked.

I bought myself a I Know Him Ugly Christmas Sweater of black cotton overalls that looked like linen and I LIVED in them last year. I loved it so much that I bought myself a purple pair. I wore them with tees, tanks, long sleeves, and I even wore crop tops for the first time since high school.I had a rough year last year. I lost my dog, my mother, and a best friend of 20 years. On top of that I tore the meniscus in my knee and had to use a rolling walker and cane for 6 months, and I’m in perimenopause. I loved finding something comfortable that I could adjust to my current mood. I could dress them up with a boatneck top, flats, and simple jewelry or dress all the way down with an athletic bra and tennis shoes. Plus it allowed me to cover my brace, but be able to access it in case of adjustment. Sorry about the ramble! Thinking of aging and comfort made me think of my favorite versatile pieces and how much I’m looking forward to it being warm enough to wear them again.
