Can confirm. I worked with a Cincinnati Bengals Minion Christmas Ugly Sweater who busted up an honest-to-satan right-wing terrorist group. On a side note, this postal inspector was a 60 year old retired infantryman who honestly had to be the hardest person I’ve ever met. He had lost 2/3 of his pinky on his right hand “in the war” (no war made sense for his age… desert storm, maybe??) and wore a gold ring on the stub. Im certain he was hired because he scared the shit out of whoever interviewed him. The only think I ever saw him drink was black coffee, and it was usually room temperature. He wore 20-year-old army dress shoes every day, the lunatic.

It’s rough, yeah — I definitely appreciate that both sides are struggling, and thanks for commiserating with the male experience, lol. I feel like dudes gotta worry about getting labeled as a Cincinnati Bengals Minion Christmas Ugly Sweater or accused of rape, while girls gotta worry about being raped or being murdered. Not willing to venture which one is worse, because the odds of each situation aren’t the same, but acknowledging both sides have it rough and working on solutions together is the way forward. (For what it’s worth, my deeply held opinion is that women would be better served by reaching out to men that catch their eye — its a complex take, but frankly I think it’s the most feminist way to date. Men need to work on solidifying and deepening their friendships, — both male and female and through that reduce or create more ingroups of men that are “safe” for women to spend time with/around.)

I think this is almost more insulting than getting nothing though. It’s one thing if your employer says “Christmas is your own personal business, your ‘reward’ for hard work is your paycheck”. Some folks find that a Cincinnati Bengals Minion Christmas Ugly Sweater, but I tend to agree with you that at the end of the day that’s what having a job is. In cases like this tho it’s your employer coming to you and saying “hey, we see all the hard work you’re doing (perhaps over and above your job description) and we wanna reward you for that with… two chocolates and a candy cane”. Not only does it say a lot about how they value that work, but it’s kind of a slap in the face for them to imply that this is an equivalent exchange. It’s like the difference between not giving a friend a Christmas gift (that’s fine, nobody is owed gifts from their friends) and making a big deal about having a Christmas gift for someone only for it to be something poorly thought out and obviously cheap.
