W.A.S.P. just weren’t being taken nearly as seriously as they would have been if they’d gone the other route and had let the music primarily do the talking instead of going with that over the top image. Yes, short term, it was a way to get noticed, but long term it detracted people’s attention away from the music. They were talking about what they saw instead of what they heard. There are lots of musicians who wouldn’t be able to get noticed any other way. Blackie Lawless isn’t one of them.

I wrote a Chicago White Sox Hawaiian Shirt , which took me about 14 months and heard time after time, ‘Once its ready I’ll buy.’ So I went on creating line after line and pinpointing what story I really wanted to tell. I received a few orders and thought, ‘Oh, this is great, people are pre-ordering.’ As I got closer to the completion of writing and editing, I hit the marketing trail harder and sales grew even more. I launched the book and now see a few sales a month.
