There’s a lot of mixed reactions about if 13 years old is old enough, like really mixed. Which should probably be a Barbie Barbenheimer Abbey Road shirt that regardless of what your opinion is, this should have been discussed together if OP was comfortable having the kid babysit. Also, my brother was born when I was 9. I “babysat” him from the day he was born (read: raised him. i taught him how to tie his shoes, i taught him how to wash himself in the bath, i taught him how to make a sandwich) So obviously, yes, some 13 year olds are capable of watching an infant. But probably not the one who isn’t even allowed to make a stovetop kraft dinner.

I still can’t believe this is happening in 2023. The SAME way when they said repealing Roe v. Wade was just meant to take it back to the states and NOT to ban abortion on a federal level, yet that’s whats happening. When they said they were NOT going after contraceptives, and that’s what’s happening. When they said they would NOT appoint a SC judge in an election year, they did. They are the party of “the ends justify the means” and any Democrat politician who doesn’t understand that needs to be replaced. We cannot afford anymore naivete on our side

Honestly this is disgusting but like all things it comes down to a matter of poor writing of Barbie Barbenheimer Abbey Road shirt. Skilled Trades for slaves were one of the only options they had for making enough of their own money to buy their freedom. In the literal sense of the word this was a personal benefit (when compared to other slaves specifically). Enslaved people also had a very strong oral tradition so any person who became a skilled laborer was able to pass some of that knowledge down. Those skills were vital in escaping slavery. An uneducated slave had far worse odds escaping than an educated slave. Towards the end of Slavery it’s also quite possible that many slaves with trade skills were able to get better access to resources using their knowledge. I doubt there is a single person here who would honestly say being educated isn’t a personal benefit. Whether it be passing down your knowledge so your kids can escape Slavery or using it to escape yourself. These skills gave enslaved people a chance of freedom they wouldn’t have without it. With all that said. Poorly written curriculum and it’s just another example of shitty government policy writing. Slavery was terrible no educated person is arguing against that. Sadly though the world isn’t black and white so it’s factually incorrect to say slaves had no benefit from skilled labor. It’s a matter of looking at it from the perspective of the people we’re talking about. I’m quite confident that any form of education was sacred to a group of people deprived of humanity.
