Strong hard leadership has always worked for asian countries from Mahatir to Lee Kuan Yew to Park Chung Hee, and many others. Governments need strong clear leadership and vision , not just political ideology like democracy to work. Western notions of democracy in Asia is largely trying to force a square peg into a round hole. It sounds great in theory, but does not work in practice. There have been many examples.
